How to choose the right Air Conditioner for your needs?

Due to the frequent unexpected shift in weather conditions, Air Conditioners has become more of a necessity in every households. From hundreds of choices available in the market, it is quite difficult to choose the right one for your needs. Choosing the wrong Air Conditioner might cause either an increase in your electricity bills or regret over choosing one that doesn’t satisfy your needs. Summer is coming up and it is very important for you to be informed or educated about certain factors before head out to the store. Here’s a quick buying guide for you.

Split Air Conditioners.

As the name suggests it comes in a pair of units, indoor and outdoor units. The air handling unit is placed inside the air conditioned room and the other part is mounted outside. The outside unit contains the compressor, condenser coil and the expansion coil. Since the compressor unit is kept outside, a major source of noise is removed. Another benefit of Split AC is that more than one indoor units can be connected to a single outdoor unit which helps to stabilize the temperature inside a large room. The cooling capacity of Split ACs are said in terms of tonnage. Based on the ability to regulate the speed of its motor, they are classified into two types such as Inverter and Non-Inverter Air Conditioners.

Difference between an Inverter and Non-Inverter Air Conditioner.

The major difference between these two types of AC is the way to adjust the temperature. A Non-Inverter AC is also called fixed speed Air Conditioner, which has a constant speed compressor motor. When the AC reaches the desired temperature, the compressor turns off and automatically starts again when the temperature of the room increases. As the AC frequently turns on and off, the compressor motor consumes more energy and produces lot of noise. Inverter ACs has control over the compressor and the inverter technology helps to reduce energy consumption rate as well. It has a variable speed compressor that adjusts the temperature as required. The compressor never goes on and off frequently, it operates continuously. The compressor motor slowdowns instead of shutting down when the desired temperature and runs at its normal speed, so the power consumption is optimized.

Air Conditioner and your Room Size.

The cooling capacity of an Air Conditioner is said in terms of tonnage. An AC that too small would struggle to control the temperature of a large room. Many people buy large air conditioner thinking that it would help to cool the room quickly, in fact it is wastage of energy and less effective as well. So the size of the room is very important factor to be considered when you are planning to buy an Air Conditioner.

AC cooling capacity required according to size of the room:
